Public Art Project : NYC

In every city, there’s a character so ubiquitous that we hardly notice him (well, mostly a him). At least, this is what caught the attention of artist Maya Barkai in response to a 2004 mayoral call to make NYC more welcoming to pedestrians through public street art.

Part of NYC’s Re: Construction art projects, this installation of 99 traffic icons came to life through the contribution of photographers worldwide. Read more here.
